?The Urban Fashion Connoisseurs have spoken. After scouring through an outpouring of nominees? both national and international? the esteemed panel of fashion experts have made the selections of nominees for the Second Annual Urban Fashion Awards Show. In all, there are nominees for 31 categories (see attached for complete list).
With this selection of nominees, the panel has helped the Urban Fashion Awards Show fulfill their mission. That mission is to broaden the exposure of the Urban Fashion Community, recognize the worth and value of Urban Fashion, and to reaffirm Urban Fashion as a separate viable entity. As the world has witnessed over the last decade, Urban Fashion has inspired the fashion trends of today. It is time for the Urban Fashion Community to be recognized for its power and influence on fashion throughout the world.
This awards show was created by Tonya Payton, founder and executive producer, to provide a platform for Urban Fashion. Ms. Payton readily recognized that:

·????Urban Fashion is the driving force in the fashion industry.
·????Urban Fashion is not a trend or a fad, but a lifestyle and a movement.
·????Urban Fashion has no boundaries.
·????Urban Fashion is not limited to any one race, religion or creed.
·????Urban fashion has proved to be a permanent fixture in our society.
Too often the traditional fashion awards shows give short shrift to the Urban Fashion Community. This awards show will reflect Urban Fashion and its influence in all aspects of our lifestyles.
At its Second Annual Urban Fashion Awards Show, the expression of their peers will be heard and unveiled at a star-studded entertainment show in Las Vegas on February 25, 2004 at the Thomas and Mack Center. Designers, models, celebrities, and media from all over the world will be in attendance. In fact, some 6,000 people are expected to attend this groundbreaking show.
