KaiserQuotes.com Becomes the First Website to Quote Kaiser Permanente Insurance in Spanish

Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) August 21, 2011

KaiserQuotes.com is now the first and only website to offer online Kaiser Permanente health insurance quotes in Spanish. The agency?s latest pioneering effort is to make Kaiser health insurance more accessible to the Latino community which, according to the 2010 Census Bureau, makes up 16.9% of the U.S. population. The company?s first step was to hire Angie Perez, a highly respected Latina in the Hispanic community. She is well known for her many contributions related to the education and support of Latino families. In her new role with KaiserQuotes.com, Perez has been instrumental in bridging the gap between Kaiser Permanente and the Spanish-speaking population.

Since the addition of Ms. Perez, KaiserQuotes.com has seen a steady increase in applications from Spanish speakers. Due to her ability to build rapport with other Latinos and the inter-connectedness of the Latino community, she often gets referrals through word-of-mouth. Recently, Perez was invited to visit the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles to offer translation services for Kaiser Permanente health insurance to Mexican immigrants. Also, she has represented KaiserQuotes.com at the Rohnert Park Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and other community-based outreaches.

After hiring Ms. Perez, KaiserQuotes.com prematurely put out a press release announcing that the agency had ?gone bilingual?. In reaction to this release, a Hispanic watchdog company, Wired Latinos, confronted KaiserQuotes.com about its lack of Spanish content on the website. ?That was our cue to grovel and eat dirt,? commented CEO John Hansen. ?We had bragged too soon about being Latino-friendly. They called us on the carpet for it, and they were right. Since then, we?ve aimed at offering not only phone support but online support in Spanish. We now have some Spanish content pages and we?re launching some more this week. Also, for the first time, we finally are able to quote in Spanish. At this point, we are only quoting California Individual plans in Spanish. It?s a start. We still have a long way to go.?

Since that press release went out, several content pages have been added to support the Hispanic population in finding out information related to Kaiser Permanente coverage. In addition to being able to obtain quotes in Spanish, visitors will now be able to view helpful tips on how to find the right health insurance, compare plan benefits (planes m?dicos), and receive printable insurance applications in Spanish. At this point, the online application is only offered in English.

KaiserQuotes.com has made some recent changes to their Spanish home page (Seguro M?dico). This page had at one time been simply a translation of the English home page. About a month ago, the agency changed the translated text for unique content that would speak more to the Hispanic audience. Last week, in an effort to be more Latino-friendly, they switched out the photo of a female Caucasian doctor for a Latina doctor. ?She?s Latina and she?s real. That?s the message we want to send,? commented Angie Perez who hasn?t been the biggest fan of the photo on the English home page, which in her words ?looks more like a super model than someone whom you would want to approach for advice about getting a health plan.?
