Marriott International beat off stiff competition to be named the best hotel group employer in the United Arab Emirates at the first ever Catererglobal.com Best Employers in Hospitality Awards 2011 UAE, sponsored by Hospitality Search International.
Attended by 160 hotel managers and human resource directors from leading hotels within the UAE, the ceremony was hosted by Catererglobal?s Sales director Peter Willis at the Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai.
The awards were voted for by some 24,000 hotel professionals in the state and, due to overwhelming response, the number of awards was increased from four to six, with both the four and five-star categories split into large and small hotels.
Nour Arjaan by Rotana scooped the best four-star hotel (small) award, while the Millennium Airport Hotel Dubai walked away with the best four-star hotel (large) trophy.
In the five-star awards, the Ritz-Carlton Dubai emerged victorious in the small hotel category, while the Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort and Towers claimed the award for best large five-star hotel. The best restaurant award was tightly fought, with Bite Caf? narrowly beating Wild Ginger to the trophy.
All eyes were on the final prize of the evening, however, as five giants of the hospitality industry contended for the award of best hotel group employer. In the end, Marriott International (including The Ritz-Carlton) triumphed ahead of Hilton Worldwide, Rotana Hotels, Jumeirah Group and Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
